Auntie Shady’s Femme* DJ Club
WHAT
Nau mai and welcome to the club! I’m running a 4 session introductory course to get you comfortable with the tech, hardware, software & set up needed to start performing your playlists out & about.
We will cover:
Musical genres, set curation, hardware, software, tune file formats, EQ (equalising) tunes, mixing & promo. After 4 weeks you will get an opportunity to perform at a showcase event alongside other club members.
YOU WILL NEED
Access to a computer, usb flash drive and your collection of music files! If you don’t have files yet, we can kick off your collection together.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY FEMME*
Non males! Including those who don’t identify as male. Femmes, non-binary folks, women are all welcome. Let’s increase the number of non-males behind the decks at our parties, clubs and events in this town!
WHEN
4 weeks, running Tuesday nights 6:30-8:30pm
Starting November 12th
WHERE
Porridge Watson (bar will be closed)
NITTY GRITTY

Ideally you’ll be able to attend all 4 evenings, plus the showcase event. If you’re unable to make a night, we’ll make sure the content is available to keep you up to speed. I’ll also be available on chat to help you with your technical questions outside of the sessions.

ABOUT ME
I’m Shady Lady, I’ve been DJing since 2005 on the radio, at festivals, clubs & bars in Tāmaki Makaurau & Pōneke and now Whanganui. I run Neck Level warehouse raves and love all genres of music, but playing heavyweight bass over large speaker stacks is my happy place.
You can listen to my mixes online at

There are many ways to be a “good” DJ. To me, all genres, styles and approaches are valid. I’m aiming to share my techniques and skills, demystify what a DJ actually does, and help you develop your own styles in a friendly informal environment.
