Description

Israel resumed its genocidal campaign of annihilation in Gaza early Tuesday morning, killing hundreds in a matter of hours, including many children. As of this writing, the death toll from this assault is reportedly at least 413.  Israel is not even pretending that Hamas violated the ceasefire agreement it signed on to in January, saying instead that the decision to resume the onslaught was made because Hamas had been rejecting a significantly altered new agreement put forward by the Trump administration which would have allowed Israel to postpone moving toward a lasting peace.

“This follows Hamas’s repeated refusal to release our hostages, as well as its rejection of all of the proposals it has received from US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and from the mediators,” reads a statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.  “Israel will, from now on, act against Hamas with increasing military strength,” Netanyahu said.

Horrific images already circulating from inside Gaza. The aftermath of Israeli airstrikes. One shows a small baby, wearing a jumpsuit with rainbows on it, who was killed. The death toll continues to rise.  Of course we all know Israel is not really acting against Hamas; Israel is acting against the entire population of the Gaza Strip. The plan to eliminate all Palestinians in Gaza has been openly confessed to by the president of the United States, who went as far as posting a freakishly disturbing AI-generated music video on social media about the future of Gaza after its US-backed ethnic cleansing. Israel is simply making the enclave as dangerous and uninhabitable as possible so that everyone who lives there will be forced to either leave or die.

And this was all planned in advance. As soon as the Gaza ceasefire agreement was announced, the Netanyahu-aligned pundits in Israeli media were already saying they knew for a fact that the prime minister wasn’t going to allow the deal to move on to its second phase. After Netanyahu visited Washington and stayed for nearly a week, the Israeli outlet Haaretz reported that the prime minister was planning to sabotage the ceasefire deal upon his return. Now here we are, watching Netanyahu completely torch the ceasefire after weeks of actively sabotaging it.

Not only was this all planned in advance — it was also propagandized for in advance. Israel and the western political-media class spent days pushing the atrocity propaganda narrative that Hamas had murdered child hostages Kfir and Ariel Bibas in the early weeks of the Gaza onslaught — not just murdered them, but murdered them with their bare hands.

Public outrage was deliberately drummed up around this narrative, despite no evidence ever being presented to the public that it was true. Western landmarks like the Empire State Building and the Eiffel Tower were lit orange at night in a transparent attempt to highlight the children’s whiteness for westerners who’ve been trained to ignore the deaths of darker middle eastern children. Israel supporters brayed for Palestinian blood as this babies-on-bayonets atrocity propaganda was pushed into their minds to manufacture consent for future atrocities.

And it was all a psyop. Zeteo’s Muhammad Shehada reported a month and a half ago — weeks before the Bibas narrative was unfurled — that Israel’s narrative managers appeared to be gearing up to use the Bibas kids to justify future bloodshed by pretending they didn’t know whether the children were alive or not, swearing vengeance if they were dead. Hamas reported back in November 2023 that the Bibas children had been killed in an Israeli airstrike along with their mother. In December 2023 it was reported in the mainstream press that Hamas had offered to return their bodies to Israel but Israel refused, telling the press that “Israel will not address propaganda-based reports coming from Hamas”.

Lo and behold, the atrocity propaganda narrative about the Bibas children was rolled out a few weeks later when their bodies were returned by Hamas as part of the ceasefire agreement, just as Shehada had anticipated. And just last week, former Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant admitted publicly that he had known the Bibas kids were dead the entire time, directly contradicting the feigned shock of Israel and its spinmeisters when the bodies of the children were returned.

Israel's ex-Defence Minister admits they knew for 15 months the Bibas family were killed (but Israel's gov kept their deaths secret while parading their abduction as a rallying cry).  Gallant says Yarden Bibas was armed & fighting (along with Shiri) when taken captive.

To this day, Israel has presented the public with no evidence of any kind that the Bibas siblings were murdered by the bare hands of their captors, rather than by the same Israeli airstrikes that were killing women and children every day in the same area as common sense would suggest. Given Israel’s extensive history of lying about exactly this sort of thing, we can safely assume that the evidence was never presented because there isn’t any evidence.

They lied. They lied about murdered children in order to justify murdering children, just like they lied about beheaded babies on October 7 in order to justify killing thousands of babies in Gaza.   When it comes to Israel, every accusation is a confession.  Caitlin Johnstone

And this from March13th, just fuck Israel...that is all!

Palestinian Territory– Israel’s systematic sexual and gender-based violence against Palestinians is widespread and amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity, according to United Nations experts.

A new report released by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, also concludes that Israel has been responsible for acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 2023.

The long-standing impunity enjoyed by Israel, which has enabled it to continue its systematiccrimes against Palestinians, must end immediately due to the seriousness of the report’s contents.

In its report “‘More than a human can bear’: Israel’s systematic use of sexual, reproductive and other forms of gender-based violence since October 2023” released today (13 March 2025), the International Commission of Inquiry concludesthat the frequency, severity, and prevalence of sexual and gender-based crimes against Palestinian men and women in the Occupied Palestinian Territory show that Israel is increasingly and systematically employing sexual and gender-based violence as a deliberate strategy to destabilize Palestinian society, assert control, persecute its people, and contribute to their destruction.

According to the report, thousands of women have died in Gaza since 7 October 2023 as a result of Israeli military operations that have disproportionately affected civilians, especially Palestinian women and girls, many of whom were directly targeted.

The Commission of Inquiry asserts that Israel’s systematic violations of Palestinian women and girls have also resulted in severe gender-related harm, including death from pregnancy and childbirth complications, as well as serious physical and psychological harm. This is because of deliberate Israeli policies that have destroyed the Gaza Strip’s health system and preventedwomen and girls of reproductive age from accessing reproductive healthcare.

Israel specifically targeted facilities related to sexual and reproductive health, which had both immediate and long-term effects on women’s physical and mental well-being as well as their capacity to procreate. These effects will have a lasting impact on the fertility of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as a whole. All phases of reproduction—from pregnancy and childbirth to postpartum recuperation and breastfeeding—have been negatively impacted by Israel’s use of starvation as a weapon of war, blocking of humanitarian aid, and forced displacement of Palestinians in the Strip.

The Commission of Inquiry documented systematic patterns of gender-based and sexual violence against Palestinians, including crimessuch as rape, forced nudity, sexual humiliation, sexual torture, genital-targeted violence, and degrading treatment. As part of Israeli tactics meant to degrade and terrorize Palestinians, these infractions were photographed or recordedand shared online on social media platforms.

The report also noted that Palestinian men, women, and children have been subjected to sexual and gender-based violence across the occupied Palestinian territory, whether during arrest, in interrogation centers and prisons, or amid forced displacement in Gaza. These violations were systematically committed by Israeli security forces, as well as by Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

The Commission determined that the sexual and reproductive crimes committed by Israel in the Palestinian territories since October 7, 2023, constitute war crimes and/or crimes against humanity. It further concluded that some of these acts amount to genocide under the Rome Statute and the Genocide Convention and The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The Commission confirmed that Israel has systematically targeted the reproductive capacity of Palestinians in Gaza through the deliberate destruction of sexual and reproductive healthcare facilities, including maternity hospitals and in-vitro fertilization centers, significantly undermining childbirth within the Palestinian community. Additionally, Israel imposed a comprehensive siege, preventing access to essential humanitarian aid, including food, water, and critical medications and equipment necessary for safe pregnancies, deliveries, and neonatal care. These actions have resulted in irreversible long-term effects on the mental health, physical well-being, and reproductive and fertility prospects of Palestinians in Gaza as a group.

Furthermore, Israel used starvation as a method of warfare and systematically denied exit permits for patients, particularly women suffering from serious illnesses such as gynecological cancer, exacerbating their suffering and putting their lives at grave risk. The Commission concluded that these combined policies amount to the deliberate imposition of living conditions intended to bring about the physical destruction of Palestinians, in whole or in part—an act explicitly classified as genocide under Article 6 of the Rome Statute and the Genocide Convention.

The report of the UN committee is entirely in line with the documentation of human rights organisations, including Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, during the last 17 months in the Gaza Strip. Despite the fact that Israeli crimes against civilians in the Strip have unquestionably included elements of genocide, most members of the international community have shamefully done nothing to stop the crime or hold Israel and its allies responsible for it.

Euro-Med Monitor has previously documented Israel’s systematic use of sexual violence, including rape and other forms of sexual crimes. These violations are a clear part of a larger Israeli campaign of genocidal violence against the Palestinian people, and Israel should therefore be added to the list of organisations that engage in sexual violence during times of conflict.

In October 2024, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor published a report documenting the various elements of the crime of genocide, including the imposition of measures aimed at preventing childbirth within the Palestinian community. The report found that Israeli occupation forces have acted with prior and specific intent through deliberate measures to prevent births in Gaza as part of the crime of genocide. These measures include expanding the killing of individuals of reproductive age, forcibly displacing and separating Palestinian families, destroying embryo preservation laboratories, dismantling the healthcare system, and imposing harsh living conditions through starvation and the deliberate obstruction of humanitarian aid.

The International Commission’s report ought to be a wake-up call for all pertinent states and organisations to take immediate action to fulfil their responsibilities under the Genocide Convention, rather than just sitting on paper. The continued inaction of these states and entities regarding Israeli crimes has directly or indirectly contributed to the ongoing crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip, and is thus legally and morally indefensible.

Many people of conscience have lost faith in the international system and the principles of justice and equality. This loss is justified, given the international community’s persistent disdain for the reports and recommendations of competent independent entities, as well as its preference for political interests and considerations over moral and legal obligations. This also creates the necessary conditions for tensions and conflicts to continue and escalate.

In line with their international commitments, states must enact economic, diplomatic, and military sanctions to force Israel to stop its crimes, in light of the overwhelming evidence that it has committed genocide in the Gaza Strip. The financial assets of officials implicated in crimes against Palestinians must be frozen, trade privileges and bilateral agreements suspended, arms exports and purchases from Israel prohibited, and military cooperation with Israel suspended. States must also refrain from interfering with the International Criminal Court’s work in any manner and assist it in its continuing investigations into the situation in Palestine.

To be in compliance with international law, the international community must take immediate action to ensure the Palestinian people’s right to live in freedom and dignity, support their right to self-determination, and eradicate the underlying causes of their suffering and continuous oppression over the past 76 years, i.e. occupation and ethnic cleansing. They must also seek to lift Israel’s illegal blockade of the Gaza Strip, ensure accountability for Israeli perpetrators, guarantee the right of Palestinian victims to redress and compensation, end the illegal Israeli occupation and violent settler colonialism imposed on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and demolish the system of isolation and apartheid imposed by Israel and its allies against Palestinians.

Then there is this... Mar 20

Former Israeli peace negotiator Daniel Levy joins Zeteo as a contributor and unpacks this week's resumption of Israel's violence in Gaza.
Note from our Editor-in-Chief: I have known Daniel Levy for over a decade now, and it is with great delight and honor that I welcome him to Zeteo as our newest contributor. Daniel is a renowned British-Israeli analyst, president of the U.S./Middle East Project, and a former Israeli peace negotiator under Yitzhak Rabin and Ehud Barak. These days, however, he is a passionate critic of the Israeli government, as well as the “abuse” of antisemitism to silence opponents of Israel. He now calls the peace process “the refuge of scoundrels who want to maintain the status quo,” and, in a recent viral appearance at the UN Security Council (below), dubbed Israel an “occupying, colonizing state” that is rendering the UN Charter “meaningless.” His first piece for Zeteo, also below, is equally scathing – and eye-opening – about this week’s Israeli assault on Gaza. It is available in full to our paid subscribers, so if you haven’t already, please do upgrade from free to paid today to read all of Daniel’s essay and to help support independent journalism! -Mehdi

I Negotiated for Israeli Prime Ministers. Netanyahu Is Lying By: Daniel Levy

It has taken less than two months for normal service to be resumed – a White House that is the plaything of the prime minister of a client state, Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu. Having briefly flirted with leading the ‘ceasefire over war’ camp, the US is back to bombing Yemen, threatening Iran with military action, and undermining its own negotiations in the service of greenlighting Israel's resumed bombing of Gaza.

Trump has apparently been reminded who is the superpower here. The peace president? Not if Israel says otherwise. It is hard to say that Trump 47 has exactly been duped, he of the ethnically-cleansed Gaza Riviera plan. Alignment with Israel's genocidal orientation would seem to come naturally.

Having, in the words of Einav Zangauker (mother of Israeli captive Matan), “sabotaged negotiations” in order to “blame Hamas,” Netanyahu definitively shattered the ceasefire in the early hours of March 18, aerially bombarding parts of Gaza, killing over 400 Palestinians, among them over 180 children, and the slaughter of innocents has continued since. The timing of the initial strike was designed to coincide with Suhoor, the pre-dawn meal taken during the month of Ramadan, rubbing salt in the wounds of religious sensibilities well beyond Gaza.

Israeli officials have claimed that the resumed strikes create leverage in getting Hamas to accept Israeli terms for a deal. Lies, pure and simple. Israeli war crimes failed to shift the terms of a deal for over a year. Hamas is negotiating in accordance with the parameters agreed in January, Netanyahu is not. On Wednesday, Hamas clarified that “any proposal based on negotiating the second stage and permanently ending the war will be welcomed.”

Protesters inside Israel are also calling out Netanyahu’s bluff. The Hostages and Missing Families Forum issued a statement calling for a renewed ceasefire, dismissing the government's claim that a return to war is “for the sake of hostages' return” as “a complete deception,” and blaming the government for “withdrawing from the agreement” and endangering the hostages. Former Mossad chief Tamir Pardo, addressing a Tel Aviv rally, accused Netanyahu of “start[ing] yet another round of war ... not to protect your people but to protect your government. Another war with no purpose, another war with no strategy.”

A number of Israelis recently released from Gaza in the 42-day ceasefire joined the protest, expressing their shock and dismay at the government's resumption of war. The reality is all too transparent. Israel already broke the terms of the ceasefire during its first phase of implementation. Israel also repeatedly disavowed the broader framework agreement that had been reached, which committed the Israeli side to negotiate a second and third phase and stipulated a full ceasefire and full Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza.

Addressing the Knesset on March 3, Netanyahu committed to a continued war even if the hostages were returned; he replaced his negotiating team, placing loyalist Minister Ron Dermer in charge; on March 2, Israel reimposed a humanitarian siege, which has subsequently been tightened by closing off electricity, with the premeditated spillover effect that has on water supplies, and in particular, desalination plants. In other words, Israel's leadership is doubling down on the war crimes that led to the urgent provisional measures issued by the International Court of Justice in the case brought by South Africa regarding violations of the Genocide Convention and that also led to arrest warrants against Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant being issued by the International Criminal Court.
