The Whanganui Musicians Club is all about ‘keeping the music live’ and supporting the people who make it and the audience who appreciate it. Friday 2 December is the final club night of 2022 – one more night of musical adventure featuring local bands and solo performers. Christmas Pies and Candy Canes is the theme. Come celebrate Christmas with all local bands. Wear your sparkly Christmas outfits!! The iconic stage in the Musicians Club on Drews Avenue will once again come alive with entertaining sights and sounds as the celebration of the music of Whanganui sends us toward the holiday season and the New Year.
We are grateful to be able to meet together and share our love of our musical culture. The club is looking forward to 2023, with some headlining artists already lined up to perform. Opening the 2023 season on Friday 20 January will be a Whanganui double bill with the Porridge Watson Family Band and the Blue Veinz kicking off our Vintage Weekend. The first club night on 3 February will feature the Open Mic warming the stage for the incredible kiwi saxophonist Roger Manins on tour with the Mark Lockett Quartet. And the remarkable Andrew London is setting a date to bring his Swing Voters to the stage. That’s just a taste of what’s in store for us in the New Year.
And dancing...music and dancing go hand in hand. Dancing in front of the stage at the club is always a joyful part of the evening. So dress yourselves up, put on your dancing shoes and come down and have a go! You will be with like minded people who want to celebrate our freedoms in Whanganui. We’ll see you there.
