Rock on the River returns to Carolines Boat Shed on Sunday, February 11, starting at 2pm and continuing through to about 5:30/6pm
The show will start with Bobbi Rae, a local singer/songwriter and guitarist, who will play a selection of covers and original songs in an indie/soul/pop style. Check out her Facebook page to listen to her singing.
Following Bobbi will be Brian Baker. He has lived and performed in Australia for 40 years, before returning to New Zealand and relocating to Whanganui. As Fred Loveridge, organiser and Whisky Band member, says, "Brian has great pedigree. His chart-topping band in Australia, The Makers, included Eddie Raynor, who was part of Split Enz. The band were frequently on Australian TV shows."
Brian himself is a singer, songwriter and music producer. His company is named 'The Bakery.' He will sing a mix of his own music and a selection of covers.
The main part of Rock on the River will be the band Whisky Mama, probably the best-known band based in Whanganui.
The event is free. It will be in Caroline’s carpark with the performers on the back of a truck. Carolines itself will be open for meals and drinks.
An important annual musical event coming up is the Pauls Road concert on Sunday, March 3. Tickets will soon be available from Gatshack. There will be a significant number of performers as per usual, and, of course, the goal is to raise funds for Gabby’s Starlit Hope Charity.
