Join right thinking peace activists at the Tram Shed this Saturday to show you oppose NZ Shitfuckery in joining the zionist crusade against Palestine.
STOP PRESS: PSNA national committee decided yesterday to organise a convoy to parliament for a day of action on Tuesday 13 February. Diary it. More details to follow!
Government leaders and MPs are now under the protest spotlight after three months of political indifference to the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza. There is no longer any pretense. The government is taking the US/Israel side as apologists for genocide in Gaza.
Emphasising this with red flashing red neon signs was yesterday’s decision for New Zealand to send military personnel to the Middle East to help the US-led coalition to attack Houthi military targets.
The Houthi movement has been attacking Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea to increase pressure for a ceasefire in Gaza. But instead of New Zealand calling for an immediate permanent ceasefire and an end to Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, we are attacking the Houthi fighters. Rising tension in the Middle East is being inflamed by New Zealand’s stance on the wrong side of the most dangerous divide in world politics. This is bad for New Zealand, bad for Palestinians and bad for justice and peace.
The National Party led government have been here before – often. They defended apartheid South Africa till the dying days of the racist regime and they are on a similar path with the racist apartheid state of Israel.
Palestine solidarity supporters must now turn our focus onto the collaborators with genocide and government leaders have put themselves in the spotlight.
Last Thursday/Friday PSNA supporters in Christchurch organised three protests against the Prime Minister and National Party caucus who were meeting in Christchurch. This included a protest at the National Party Caucus dinner here and here where embarrassed National MPs had to “walk a gauntlet” to get on their buses back to their hotel.
Prime Minister Chrisopher Luxon justifies joining the war saying ”Houthi attacks against commercial and naval shipping are illegal, unacceptable and profoundly destabilising”. The justification given by PM Luxon is shamelessly hypocritical. Luxon should be condemning Israel’s slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza as “illegal, unacceptable and profoundly destabilising” and yet Mr Luxon refuses to utter a single word of criticism on Israel despite the death toll of over 25,000 Palestinians – including over 10,000 children. Foreign Minister Winston Peters saying the deployment should not be linked to recent developments in Israel and the Gaza strip is simply laughable. It is another shameful day to be a New Zealander.
The International Court of Justice has ruled that Israel must cease its warmaking in Gaza — cease committing and inciting genocidal acts — and that the case charging Israel with genocide must proceed.
