This Wednesday marks the 76th year since the 1948 Nakba in Palestine (see Nakba 101 below) We will be holding a vigil at the Whanganui Arts - At The Centre on Taupo Quay for those who would like to come and pay their respects by candlelight and hear from Dr Nafiz Ghamran, a local Whanganui-Palestinian in our community about the Nakba.
There will be candles, hot drinks, food and time to be together in silence for the Palestinians still undergoing colonial violence in their homeland.

Nakba 101:
The Nakba (“catastrophe” in Arabic) refers to the violent expulsion of approximately three quarters of all Palestinians from their homes and homeland by Zionist militias and the new Israeli army during the state of Israel’s establishment (1947-49).
