Netanyahu’s New Conditions!!!!  Al-Jazeera reported on Sunday that the heads of Israeli security services were shocked by Netanyahu’s comments on the ceasefire agreement.  Earlier in the day, Netanyahu set new conditions, stating that a Gaza ceasefire plan should facilitate the release of Israeli captives “without harming the other aims of the war.”

Netanyahu’s office released a statement indicating that his refusal to halt the Gaza offensive “is what brought Hamas back to the negotiating table.” (and we all know what a crock of shit that is!)  He asserted that the “framework agreed by Israel and welcomed by President Biden will enable Israel to return hostages without compromising the other aims of the war.”  The Israeli prime minister added that any agreement would allow Tel Aviv to resume fighting “until its war aims are met.”  He also emphasized that “weapons smuggling to Hamas from the Gaza-Egypt border will not be possible,” and pledged that “Israel will maximize the number of living hostages returned from Hamas captivity.”

It’s been nine months since Hamas’ October 7 attacks on Israel sparked a conflict that put the entire world on edge. This weekend, Israeli citizens staged mass protests to encourage their government to end the conflict, agree to a ceasefire deal, and hold national elections to replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition government. Protest leaders have called for a “week of resistance” to display their dissatisfaction with Bibi’s handling of the war in Gaza.

The bad news for Netanyahu’s government didn’t stop there, though. Over the weekend, Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed that it had obtained multiple pieces of evidence showing that IDF troops had deployed the “Hannibal Directive” during the October 7 attacks, a controversial procedure used in previous conflicts where IDF troops are ordered to stop the kidnapping of their troops or Israeli civilians by any means – including shooting and killing them. Haaretz’s findings were based on IDF documents and testimony from multiple IDF members. The news backs up a U.N. Commission report published in June, which found that the Directive killings resulted in the deaths of at least 14 Israeli citizens and an unknown number of IDF soldiers. At the moment, it’s unclear exactly how many people were killed as a result, or who called for the directive to be used.

Luxon takes the cake for racist hypocrisy!  Yesterday Christopher Luxon took another hypocrite-of-the-week award.

Luxon has rightly called out and condemned the attack on a children’s hospital in Ukraine which has killed at least 41 people.

Meanwhile over 38,000 Palestinians – mostly women and children – have been slaughtered by Israel in Gaza and still not a word of condemnation of Israel from the New Zealand government.
Breathtaking hypocrisy!

Israel’s systematic destruction of all Gaza healthcare facilities, its campaign of collective punishment and use of starvation as a weapon of war have been exhaustively documented by the European Union, the United Nations and international human rights groups.

More bombs have been dropped on the densely populated strip in the past nine months than the combined total of all the bombs dropped on London, Dresden and Hamburg during the full six years of the second world war.

Luxon is happy to call Gaza a catastrophe but refuses to condemn the industrial-scale killing of Palestinians and pin the blame where it belongs – with Israel’s 76-year project to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Palestine and steal their land.

Racism and cowardice are rampant in Luxon’s foreign policy.
