MonGonzo to play the Musicians Club

Michael Petersen is another of our musicians making his way in the country’s capital. There is no doubt that the vibrant music scene in Wellington is an irresistible attraction for our young musicians wanting to expand their horizons. Singer/songwriter Monty Hornell met up with Michael when the two were studying at Massey University, and with other music students decided to make a band. Here’s their promo:
MonGonzo is a brand new Dance-Punk/Alternative Rock band coming to Whanganui to perform their first full-length show as a band. The band is comprised of six members who are no strangers to the Wellington music scene. Josh delivers sax lines so dirty you'll need a shower. Michael on drums and Tom on bass hold down the groove so tightly that you’d think they were married. Joel and Reid use their keyboards to create unique textures, filling the songs to the brink of explosion. And Monty plays guitar while singing his heart out, tackling deeply profound topics like fish burgers and conspiracy theories.
This is October’s Club Night at the Musicians Club, and there is sure to be a host of local musicians coming to try out new and old songs at the Open Mic session that begins at 7pm. The first Friday of the month is always an exciting time for our music community. Last month’s session was once again amazing, and you can expect the same again. If you have yet to attend one of these monthly musical feasts, now is the time! It’s a ‘bring your own’ food and drink and come to experience a wide variety of quality entertainment. We look forward to meeting you.
